When working in landscape and construction there are various health and safety risks that every employee needs to be aware of.
As an employee or contractor at Elite, it is necessary to be responsibly for performing your own tasks safely. In addition, looking out for the safety of fellow workers, contractors and for the clients that may enter the jobsite is very important.
Health and Safety is of the utmost importance at Elite and when proper safety measures are taken all work related injuries are preventable.
Based on Part V, Section 45 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, all employees have the right to refuse or stop work due to unsafe work conditions.
SAFETY PRACTICES
We train employees to safely perform work-related tasks, to assess all risks, and to identify all hazards at each work site.
Before work at a site is started we eliminate all hazards to employees and the property. Any fires, exposed/underground wires, glass, or gas smells are always a primary concern at a new jobsite.
Employees and contractors shall perform work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Daily measures to prevent incidents, injuries and occupational are a necessary focus.
If any Health and Safety incidents occur, it is necessary to have all staff meet and discuss why and how the incident occurred so that the same thing does not occur again.
SPECIFIC EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees
Wear and maintain all proper personal protective equipment.
Perform work as shown to be the proper safe work procedure, and in accordance with all health and safety policies and procedures.
Report all health and safety hazards or concerns (as well as any incidents or injuries) to crew supervisors immediately.
Crew Supervisors
Wear and maintain all proper personal protective equipment.
Manage the jobsites and in accordance with all health and safety policies and procedures.
Warn employees of any hazard at the jobsite, train and monitor employees working procedures.
Report all health and safety hazards or concerns (as well as any incidents or injuries) to the employer President immediately.
Employer
Lead by example.
Commitment to prevent Occupational illness and injury in the workplace.
Demonstrate, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
